Low Altitude Dive Test Data

Testing underway...

Plane Testing Parameters:

  • Take off on NE runway on test arena with 25% fuel and fly to 10k.
  • Dive initiated when plane at 10k and speed 300mph. WEP engaged at this point.
  • Between 10k and 6k positioned plane ensuring dive angle 90 degrees (straight down).
  • Number indicated are the average of 3 dives. Did more dives as needed to better ensure accuracy.
  • Measured in seconds.milliseconds.
  • Stop watch started at 6k then ended upon augering (hitting the ground).

Found that even if inverted was getting skewed numbers if starting at 10k per each planes handling differences.
My objective was to get accurate as possible dive numbers (not include time to position for a dive).
