Reset System

The following can allow you to re-attempt an RMAN restore/recovery operation.

Assumptions

  • The same version of the Oracle database product has been installed on the Disaster Recovery (DR) system.
  • At least one full RMAN restore operation has been attempted.

Procedure

  1. Stop all Oracle services.
  2. Remove Services and Purge support files.
    Oracle 12c\11g
      sc delete OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
      sc delete OracleServiceMyServiceName
    
      del C:/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/orapw*
      del C:/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/opctrn11.ini
    
      del C:/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/database/orapw*
      del C:/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/database/*.ora
      del C:/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/database/*.dat
      del C:/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/database/*.log
    
    Change directory names as required for your version.
    Oracle 10g
      sc delete OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener
      sc delete OracleServiceMyServiceName
    
      del C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/orapw*
    
      del C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/database/orapw*
      del C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/database/*.ora
      del C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/database/*.dat
      del C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/database/*.log
