Field Dive to Engage Technique

Goal here is to come out of nowhere and appear into a target rich environment screaming with E!

  1. Using a FW-190d9 (or similar) approach field at 15k.
    • Make sure to use a plane that can dive to 550 mph. Many can't.
  2. From half of dar ring out - dive at 45 degree angle to NOE.
    • If you dive steeper than 45 degrees for too long you will auger.
    • Use k if you have to so not to auger.

Misc Plane Notes on Technique

Nose Over View, Good

110, F6F, Hurricane, I-16, Mossie, N1k, P-38, P-39, Yak-3

Range (icon)

Inside 1000 yards enemy icons display to the closest 200. An icon display of 400 could be an actual range of 300 to 499 yards.

BBS posts suggest when an icon shows 400 it is really closer to 300. SO setting convergence to and shooting at 300 is optimal in this context.

Turning

Optimal turning is in the direction of prop rotation\torque:

Turn RIGHT

 * Typhoon, Tempest, Spit14 and all Yaks.

Turn LEFT

 * All other planes.

Vehicle Ammo

   HE = For Buildings
   AP = For Tanks

Weight Factors (the lighter a plane is the better it performs)

Miscellaneous

     correct fuel burn by default.
- Per AH, confirmed that if you burn FWD fuel first it moves CoG backward. Also, that this makes the nose lighter but less stable. This may be true for many
    other planes.
  Ultimately try it yourself and see if you like the CoG backward.
   109 (when control services get hard)
      Elevator up = K (use this to pull out of dive!)
      Elevator down = I
      Rudder left   = J
      Rudder right  = L
      Aileron left   = M
      Aileron right = , (comma key)

P-51d-lite (optimized for turn fighting)

Note: P-51b, 3800rpms in level flight = 310 +\- mph.
